GoodLife: Peninsula Style, Issue 39, Page 006 (transcription)

It seems that Summer was a disappointment in terms of weather and may have come and gone all too quickly for most of us.
We are hanging on to the hope that Autumn might stretch into a mild Indian Summer and allow a few more months of outdoor living, but the compensating factor is that, as seen in our Fashion pages, the new season's looks are excitingly fresh and very tempting.
Shopping is such a welcome distraction and in this edition we have taken you on a small excursion into the village of Balnarring where you'll find some very special shops, great restaurants and wineries.
This year we celebrate the 8th year of GoodLife the 22nd for The Visitor's Guide and although its often said that we 'have it all' right here on the Peninsula, at the GoodLife we really are in a position to know how true that is.
We also know that it is the people - residents and business people - who are the real treasures.
The Peninsula has produced many home-grown and well known stars and because our region offers such a wonderful lifestyle it has also attracted more than its fair share of creative and very talented imports.
The truth is we are very fortunate and don't have to go far to enjoy the best of the best.
It's not just the obvious bonuses like fabulous chefs, restaurateurs and wineries who after all come with territory when you are also the number one escape for Melbournians.
It's the designers, the artists and artisans and I like to think a very special breed of retailer - all of whom exhibit the friendly warmth and casual style that permeates and defines the Peninsula.
Young designers like Lisa Taranto and Elizabeth Seferian and stylists of the calibre of Yvonne West, Erica McPherson and Chris Yates are great examples.
In Annette Sanfilippo's words, the Peninsula has some of the most fashion forward pieces available ...
a wander into some of our fabulous and unique boutiques will definitely reward you .
We also have leaders in the hair and beauty fields with well designed spas and salons offering the latest in services from experienced and talented professionals.
As for lifestyle choices in the home there is absolutely no need to venture further afield when we have a great selection of furnishing retailers many of whom also custom design and make award winning pieces.
And our artists, like our winemakers, are renowned - just take the Gordon Studio Glassblowers, Cheryl Peterson and our own Michael Berry as great examples.
In the GoodLife we try to feature as many of our local 'stars' as possible, including the unsung heroes of our community like the group from Rice for Cambodia and we hope you enjoy reading about some of them and their projects in this edition.
Wishing you and yours a fabulous Autumn and hope to see you at the GoodLife Lunch.

-Melissa Grigg Now at least some of you will be old enough to remember Mr Squiggle's grumpy offsider Blackboard', and when it comes to waxing lyrical about the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer Indian or otherwise all I can say is Hurry Up to my favourite time of the year - Autumn.
You see, for freckle-faced redheads who give the seagulls a run for their money when it comes to looking pale and interesting at the beach, there's really nothing to celebrate when summer extends past its alloted three months.
Grrrr ...
have fun, if you must ...
-Karen Tatman Autumn is here my favourite time of year The air is like wine, the fields are ripening and there is a hint of melancholy in the air which only adds to the richness of the season.
To be savoured while it lasts.
-Helen Jones forward to a WARM AUTUMN Lets look on the bright side that means NEW SEASON FASHIONS.
Time for a change whether it is a whole new you or just a tweak - love the internet For inspiration check out yourhairstyes.com or drop into the salon and go through our new season look books.
-Lorna Evans I am amazed of how wonderful it is.
I have met a lot of lovely people since working on the GoodLife Magazine and look forward to meeting more.
With a 10 minute drive to the beach to take the boat out and to sight see some of the most beautiful towns in Victoria I am certainly loving the Peninsula in Summer...actually even in Autumn, Winter and Spring -Tina Sullivan What is there not to love about summer, the air smells different, everyones a little sun kissed, you're motivated to get active and the music festivals give us all an extra reason to be out side and enjoying live music with your besties.
Bring on Autumn and more fun with friends.
-Amy Neil With Christmas done and dusted so to speak I decided to spend some quality Summer time at home and throughout the region.
I had some quiet moments at the cinema watching the great film The King s Speech .
Spent some quality time with a friend over a meal and a glass of wine at Morning Sun Vineyard.
I love their Polenta Fries Although the diary is quickly filling with the onset of current and upcoming work projects, I really enjoy the hues, activities and cosiness of Autumn and so time will be set aside to enjoy the moments of the season.
Watch this space -Dianne Baxter Spring racing over the last few months has been so much fun.
If you have enjoyed a race meet or two and dabbled in the fashion stakes then I may have made a hat and styled you up for a possible win on the fashion stages around town.
I still get amazed with the lovely fashion choices and colour combinations that throw me into a whirl of creative energy and loved all your choices over that time.
It won t be long until it starts again so start putting a little thought into your fabulous creations for 2011.
