Elizabeth Seferian is a young local designer whose dreams are coming true.
Raised on the Peninsula and not moving anywhere soon her childhood was filled with animals and lots of love.
Not surprisingly one of her favourite pastimes was creating outfits for troll dolls out of paper and lots of sticky tape - perhaps an early sign of the passion she would develop for mixing different textures.
She grew up on Racecourse Road, and remembers it as a dirt road.
Her father owned a race horse and Elizabeth regularly went with him to watch trackwork and to race meets from a young age and, under the watchful eye of her Dad, always with sparkling clean shoes.
How appropriate then that she should be one of this year's judges at the Mornington Cup Fashions on the Field and she was 'absolutely thrilled ' with the day and with the effort that contestants went to be a part of the event.
Following a 3 year Fashion and Textile course Elizabeth worked for another 3 years for 'Garfunkle' developing evenng wear.
After more than a year in London and Europe, Elizabeth came home to dress a whole wedding party including 5 bridesmaids, mother of the bride and most importantly the bride and that's when she realised she still wanted her own boutique.
Through 2008, 2009 and 2010 she has dressed many for the Brownlow Red Carpet including Samatha Crossen, Daniel Cross, Shane McClinton, Brent Harvey, Nicky Simpson, Elise Swallow and Andrew Swallow and featured in the top 10 and higher at the Australian Fashion Masters Evening Wear Costume Design.
If dreams grew on trees, I would have picked one a long time ago.
But they don't so I continue on my journey of determination, hard work commitment to achieve my goal to open a beautiful boutique to give women what they want A unique gown for the unique occasion for the unique you.
Currently Elizabeth works from her home studio making stunning bridal gowns, evening wear, race wear for those who want a beautiful garment that is made to fit them in all the right places Inspired by life, her travels and her clients Elizabeth loves 'women being women ' and designing, fitting and dressing the figure of a woman.
She says her favourite part of designing a dress is being able to use and mix texture, colours, beads and frills, working outside constraints and working with the client to produce looks from 'glamour girl' to understated elegance With Elizabeth you can complete your total look from head to toe and you can buy her all occasion hairpieces and accessories from the Red Hill Market.
