What a great start to the year After just a couple of months, my reasons for joining this distinctive, alive learning community have been vindicated in full.
What we have at Woodleigh is a school where students experience life richly.
Central to all teaching and learning at Woodleigh is challenge, and it comes both in our structured classroom learning environments, and in experiential ones beyond.
The variety and breadth of learning styles and situations we offer, builds a curriculum which is involving, real and relevant to the world in which our children are living.
Key amongst our challenges as educators is to keep improving our delivery of personalised learning programs, tailored to meet the needs of each individual in our care.
At Woodleigh we seek to embrace students academic and creative talents, and provide them with the skills and voices to be able to utilise them, feel a sense of achievement and make a positive contribution to the world.
We are unashamedly an academic school.
Our VCE results for 2010 place us at the top end of open entry co-educational independent schools in the state.
This is a great result and ought be recognised.
However, it cannot show the real preparation for life beyond school that comprises a Woodleigh education.
This broad life experience, together with academic rigor and challenge, is essential in developing maturity, independence and the resilience that students need to be able to push on, and go again when things don t happen exactly as planned.
We cannot always plan for where situations and circumstance take us, but we can prepare ourselves for the changes, challenges and celebrations we encounter as we go.
-Jonathan Walter, Principal New Woodleigh School Principal Jonathan Walter addresses students at his first Senior School assembly.' Mount Eliza Secondary College provides an environment where students thrive and aspire to achieve their personal best.
We have high expectations and each individual child is personally supported by all staff.
Our programs engage learners and provide challenging opportunities both inside and outside the classroom.

feelingbig.
To have a go at something new is never easy, and nor should we feel that we have failed if we don t succeed right away.
Woodleigh School s early Childhood Centre offers an inquiry-based curriculum, combining engaging and challenging learning experiences with play and activities.
The program is focused on building the self-esteem and resilience our littlest students need to feel confident to take risks, try new things and grow through experience.
