The Key To Your Child s Future Every parent has a desire to ensure the future for their child through education but knowing exactly how and when to do this can be confusing for many.
It makes sense though to start early but how important is early education We are born with billions of brain cells all that we will ever require for our life but what we are not born with is the connections known as synapses between those brain cells.
These synapses start to develop rapidly based on experience when a child is very young.
The more learning opportunities parents provide for their children from birth until school age, the more synapses are made.
The connections will serve as a pool of knowledge for a child to access in later years.
Children s earliest experiences affect how they will think, learn and behave.
Helping children learn from birth to school age is extremely important in developing a broad foundation of knowledge for their future.
Some modern educationalists believe that a child may learn up to 80 of their adult knowledge by the time they are 8 years old.
Over a hundred years ago Maria Montessori recognised the value of education for young children when their brain is thirsting for knowledge.
She believed this period in a child s life was most precious between the age of 3 to 6 years.
The Montessori method of education was based on Maria Montessori s belief in education for young children.
She devised a system of learning based on creating a solid foundation from which to expand upon.
She developed specifically designed equipment to help a young child understand simple concepts in a tangible manner.
As the child progressed new concepts were introduced building on the concepts already learnt.
Purposeful activities were designed to encourage the children to analyse and question providing a constant supply of information to stimulate their active minds.
Subjected to the demands, changes and expectations of living in a technological society the modern child needs this solid foundation of knowledge more than ever before.
Children who are given the opportunity to receive a good education in the early years of their development will undoubtedly become valuable members of our society in the future and experience their own personal success.
The Montessori method of education in early childhood is flourishing throughout the world.
It is a methodology highly recommended to all young children.
Montessori education is the key as far as the owners and teachers at Piccolos are concerned.
It is not about how much you know but about how much you want to know .
Children have the opportunity to use and experiment with the equipment, materials and activities that Maria Montessori herself purposefully designed so many years ago.
The aim at Piccolos is to develop the child s natural desire to learn.
This is achieved by consistency in every aspect of the child s educational program.
Maria Montessori named her full five day program for children 3 6 years of age as Cycle 1 and demonstrated that children experiencing the full program thrive across a broad range of subjects.
Practice makes perfect as the saying goes but when it refers to children it promotes confidence.
The more exposure to educational experiences the child has equates to the confidence the child will gain from t his experience.
Children at Piccolos are constantly challenged on their own level of understanding.
They enjoy participating in many academic, practical life and creative activities.
Maths, science, geography, music, art, dance, sports, English language and Chinese are part of the daily routine.
Children grow on knowledge learnt whilst enjoying socialising with their friends.
A child s work is play gaining them the same satisfaction of completing a maths activity as they would building a sand castle.
Piccolos promotes the full time five day Cycle 1 program to optimise a child s learning experience, however, also accommodates a part-time program believing a minimum of 3 days per week is essential in order to cover the diverse program provided in Cycle 1.
If you are interested in securing your child s education Piccolos will happily open its doors and offer you the key to your child s future.
