There are so many stages of our lives that they travel with us or is it more endure because of us From childbirth to adulthood We learn to read a mother s thoughts, facial expressions and tone of voice.
From sadness to pride.
From the calling out of one s full name rather than its abbreviated form or pet name in trouble, again We run to her when we have hurt ourselves after falling off a fence that we were told not to climb.
We shake our heads as we enter our teenage years at what she wears, what she says and the awful music that she listens to We confide in her when we have found the man of our dreams.
We observe her tears of pride gently fall as she enjoys our achievements.
We watch her determination to never give up as the years descend upon her.
We love her for who she has been and who she still is.
We will always love her, as she is our Mother.
Mothers play such a vital role in our lives.
I know mine did.
She was a woman before her time well ahead of the Women s Liberation movement.
She was a successful businesswoman.
She was a young widow with a young daughter.
She had an innate sense of fair play and a wicked sense of humour.
And as the song says she did it her way I miss you, Mum.
Although the second Sunday in May is the official day for mothers, I always think that each and every day should be considered Mother s and Father s day.
Of course in keeping with a celebratory style, time out away from the kitchen is always enjoyable.
There are some wonderful restaurants, caf s and wineries here in our own backyard so much to experience, so much to tantalise on any given day.

The options are diverse and open ended.
Remember too Simple things mean a lot.
Why not write Mum a letter about what she means to you, what you have learned from her and the journey you have taken together over the years and leave it on her pillow so that she can read it at her leisure Or bake a batch of biscuits that you know she enjoys.
Perhaps create a bouquet from your Autumn garden made up of flowers, tree leaves and some herbs.
Make up a list of items that you believe she would enjoy doing or having done for her and ask her to choose 3 as a thank you present during the year.
