In 1911 half a world away Wilhelm Minzenmay after successfully finishing a watchmaking traineeship in Germany began his business in a small room in his father s house repairing watches.
As the business flourished the small room was upgraded to a 3 storey shop and workshop selling diamonds, jewellery, pocket watches and clocks.
The outbreak of WWII saw Wilhelm and his wife Maria together with their two young sons relocated to Australia and settled in Mornington.
Wilhelm s talents and experience was in high demand.
Over the years with the help of his two sons he built a new shop where they sold Jewels, Clocks, Pocket Watches and Wristwatches.
The supply of these was only very small compared to the demand, thus whenever new stock arrived it invariably sold the next day.
Today when you enter Minzenmay in Mornington and the new addition Minzenmay Moda in Frankston you ll see a glittering range of superb jewellery from Pandora, Ole Lynggaard, Kenzo, Bulova Watches and Unique Giftware to one-off pieces, designed and made by Minzenmay.
Minzenmay customers may remember first visiting the store as children, brought along by their parents or even grandparents.
This sense of continuity and family is reflected by the business itself, which is still proudly owned and operated by the 4th Minzenmay generation, Paul and Ksenija Minzenmay.
Minzenmay will continues to be recognised as a respected provider of high quality jewellery, offering the highest level of advice to clients in order to allow them to choose jewellery most suited to their needs.
