Philosophy for Inspiration at Dromana Years 7 and 8 Philosophy at Dromana Secondary College is a unique initiative designed to challenge and inspire a group of gifted and talented students.
The course, delivered in conjunction with the Distance Education Centre of Victoria allows students to work within a group that attempts to find answers to some of life s big questions.
Students will develop their skills of inquiry as they explore age-old philosophical issues.
What is the soul Dare to think Was there a beginning to everything What is time What is right action The group will also embrace any other philosophically rich questions that occur to class members.
While the great philosophers may, for inspiration, be referred to from time to time, the emphasis is on the students, who are the great philosophers in this course.
The students are supported by a senior teacher from the college and with regular visits from a tutor from the Distance Education Campus in Melbourne.
The course is designed to inspire, motivate and challenge young people and to open their minds to new ideas and thinking.
This will ensure that they are prepared and motivated to face the challenges of school and life beyond school.
