Bigger and Better Things 'Marlene Miller had a job she really liked regular pay and holidays but loving art decided we needed more Galleries in Sorrento only one here at the time, First Settlement Gallery now Gallery Sorrento In 1985, whilst waiting for the ferry Maerlene decided to buy the derelict building at 106 Ocean Beach Road, Sorrento so she left this great job and sold her holiday house in Sorrento and her house in Brunswick, in order to restore it and create a lovely space for paintings.
This project evolved into selling beautiful old pieces of furniture, the lovely china, old tools and books full of history with beautiful bindings and also into fabulous old jewelry.
Outgrowing the cottage at 106 a move was made to the beautiful old guesthouse 'Gannawarra' at 136.
This evolution continued with the input of Melbourne's top jewellers and now there is a combination of the old with the newly made, housed in the adjacent new building with it's has high ceilings and light and great mezzanine book room.

They are even branching out, doing their first interstate job for the shop Karma Living in NSW.
Life is looking good for the young business owners who are in the process of designing one off pieces for gallery expos and plan to breath new life into the dying art by starting blacksmithing classes and holding trade meetings.
The public are invited to come along and talk to experienced blacksmiths and create their own wrought iron piece of art.
