News from Dromana Estate This time of the year is hectic in Dromana Estate s vineyard and winery.
The fruit has been picked from the vines and the process of hand sorting, destemming, pressing and getting all those fabulous juices into barrels and stainless steel fermenters is well underway.
We have performed well throughout a difficult growing season through great viticultural management and diligent sorting in the winery which should result in some wonderful wines from 2011 vintage.
Whilst the winery team are working enormous hours to ensure the fruit is at perfect baume levels and the fermentation is underway, they ve also taken the time to host a team of Chinese wine professionals.
Organised by Wine Australia and MPVA, what a great experience for them to travel around the Mornington Peninsula and see what our fabulous region has to offer, particularly focusing on our Chardonnay and Pinot varietals.
We put the team to task out in the winery where they experienced first hand what a working Australian winery was about.
That was followed with a fabulous plethora of platters filled with salmon, bay trout, octopus, marinated olives, bruschetta, croquettes, cigarillos the list goes on.
Our Chef Stan really put together an impressive lunch which was hosted by our winemaker, Duncan Buchanan, and matched with our fabulous wines.
Our Autumn Winter menu is now on offer and the restaurant team are receiving some fantastic feedback from customers.
Our regular local customers will be pleased to know that the ever popular salt and pepper squid remains on the menu along with some tempting new meals.
Our Sunday roasts are back on as are our mid week grills and we encourage diners to book for these as they were extremely popular throughout winter in 2010.
So join us by the warming open fires and enjoy a tasting of our new vintages at Cellar Door whilst your lunch is being freshly prepared in the kitchen.

- Lynda C, Cellar Door Dromana Estate After 11 events in Australia, the Stonier International Pinot Noir tasting SIPNOT was taken to London for the first time earlier this year.
Held on January 17, the inaugural UK event followed the same format as the Australian event, benchmarking 12 leading old world and new world Pinot Noirs, though this time for a hand selected group of leading wine writers, wine trade and opinion leaders in the UK.
It provided a great format and forum for the analysis, discussion and celebration of Pinot Noir.
The 2011 Stonier International Pinot Noir Tasting will be held in Australia later this year.
