New mobile speed trailer raising awareness A new mobile speed trailer is now operating around the municipality to make neighbourhood streets safer, particularly for local school children.
While the trailer doesn t photograph vehicles or record speed, it instantly displays drivers speeds to raise awareness of road safety on local streets.
Provided by the State Government thanks to the efforts of local State MP Donna Bauer, the trailer can also display messages such as TOO FAST or GOOD SPEED to provide feedback to drivers.
These trailers can be moved to different locations, displaying speed zones or safety messages.
Frankston City Council will identify where the trailer is most needed and deploy it to any location.
Mayor Brian Cunial added The trailers will mostly be used around schools and in locations where speeding issues have been identified and traffic calming devices are not appropriate or can t be installed for a period of time.
Council spends approximately 600,000 each year installing and maintaining traffic calming devices in local streets.
